Watch the worms move through the burrows!

A fun kit for observing the roots of carrots, radishes, beans and peanuts and observing earthworms in an earthen tunnel. The terrarium is perfect for entertaining children with their parents. In this kit you will be able to observe the development of plants, monitor the growth of their roots and measure their length, and thus learn a lot about natural science.

Have you ever seen what a carrot, radish or bean root looks like underground?
Have you ever seen a peanut, how rich its fruits are?

In the first part of this kit's mission, you will first be able to observe the development of the roots of various plants, and in the second part of the investigation, you will be able to add live earthworms or worms to that same container and watch them move through the tunnels and maybe even see them reproduce.
Plant the seeds as close to the edge of the glass container as possible so that you can see the development and growth of the roots and later measure them and record them in a table. Don't forget to water the plants regularly, as they need it for good growth.

๐ŸŒฟ 1x 800g bag of sand
๐ŸŒฟ 1x 200g bag of gold leaf
๐ŸŒฟ 1x bag of white radish seeds
๐ŸŒฟ 1x bag of carrot seeds
๐ŸŒฟ 1x bag of white bean seeds
๐ŸŒฟ 2x peanuts

Preparation method

The first part of the task is to observe root growth:
๐ŸŒฟ Soak the clay lozenges in a large bowl of water to swell.
๐ŸŒฟ
First fill the bottom of the terrarium with pozzolana (small bag).
๐ŸŒฟ Then fill it with swollen soil and press lightly.
๐ŸŒฟ On the sides of the terrarium, make small holes in the soil with a pencil.
๐ŸŒฟ Sow the seeds in these holes, cover lightly with soil, and water with a spray bottle.
๐ŸŒฟ Place the terrarium in a dark place without light (or you can return it to the original carton and protect it from light).
๐ŸŒฟ Every 3 days, we take the terrarium out of the dark and observe the growth of the roots. We can write our observations on a piece of paper or in a table. After measuring the roots, we need to return the terrarium to the dark so that the roots can continue to grow.
๐ŸŒฟ We need to water often to keep the soil moist.

The second part of the task is observing the worms:
๐ŸŒฟ We will use the same soil from the first task to observe earthworms.
๐ŸŒฟ Fill the terrarium with half of this soil and press down lightly.
๐ŸŒฟ Pour sand (from a larger bag) and press down a little.
๐ŸŒฟ Then we fill in the rest of the soil again.
๐ŸŒฟ Place dried leaves on top and water.
๐ŸŒฟ Put in a few live worms and place the terrarium in the dark (you can use an outer cardboard cover) to protect the worms from light.
๐ŸŒฟ Every 3 days we take the terrarium out of the dark and watch the worms move through the tunnels.
After each observation, the terrarium must be returned to darkness.
