Chinese Tea Tree Seeds
Let's meet the teapot
You can also grow a Chinese tea plant at home in a container and watch it grow.
The tea tree is an evergreen, heavily branched shrub that can grow to tree size in the wild. In cultivation, it is pruned to no more than 1.5 m tall to make it easier to harvest the leaves. This plant, native to East Asia, is highly resistant to drought and cold.
The leaves are leathery, oblong or oval. Young leaves are downy with gray hairs on the underside, giving them a silvery appearance. Older leaves are darker green. The highest quality tea is obtained from the first three young leaves โ the unopened upper leaf and the two adjacent leaves.
The flowers, which are white to snow-pink and strongly fragrant, grow singly or in clusters of petals. The fruits are woody heads with brown seeds.
